Ruth K. Hepner (Kramer)
Ruth K. Hepner, 84, of Mifflintown and formerly of McAlisterville passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at the Geisinger-Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
Born on November 7, 1933 in Fayette Twp., Juniata County, she was the daughter of the late Truman L. Sr. and Dorothy (Smith) Kramer. On June 9, 1952, she married her surviving husband, Kenneth E. Hepner, with whom she was blessed to share more than 65 years of marriage.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Pastor Kenneth R. Hepner and his wife Raina, of Mifflintown, Bonita Pelak and her husband Andrew, of South Euclide, OH, Crystal Shaffer and her husband Lee, of McAlisterville; 8 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
An infant daughter, Trudy Hepner, preceded her in death and she is the last of her generation having been preceded in death by two brothers, Truman L. Kramer Jr. and Donald Kramer.
She was a 1951 graduate of Fayette High School, McAlisterville and a member of the Cedar Grove Brethren in Christ Church, Mifflintown, where she had taught Sunday school for many years.
Mrs. Hepner was employed by several local sewing factories, including L. Shellenberger Shirt Factory, McAlisterville and the Peabody Shirt Factory, Lewistown. Later, she owned and operated Fairview Flowers for more than 20 years and she assisted her husband Ken, with Fairview Furniture.
Ruth was very artistic, a talent that was evident in her flower arrangements, and her love of painting and doing crafts. She also loved to bowl and was a member of 3 bowling leagues. Her sugar cookies made her famous.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 12, 2018 from the Cedar Grove Brethren in Christ Church, Mifflintown with her son Pastor Kenneth R. Hepner officiating.
A visitation will held from 10 a.m. until the time of service Monday at the church.
The family will provide all flowers and kindly ask that donation in Mrs. Helpner’s memory be made to the Cedar Grove Brethren in Christ Church, 287 Deerville Road, Mifflintown, PA 17059.
