Betty S. Noss, 87, of Honey Grove, passed away at 5:19 p.m. on Monday, April 23, 2018 at Geisinger-Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill.
Born on November 19, 1930 in Tuscarora Twp., Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late W. Brooks and Jennie Cora (McClure) Stitt. On March 29, 1947, she married her late husband, Thomas A. Noss, Sr., whom she was blessed to share almost 62 years of marriage before he passed away on December 19, 2008.
Mrs. Noss is survived by her children, Barbara J. Dougherty and her husband Barry of Hummelstown, Thomas A. Noss, Jr. and his wife Peggy of Honey Grove, Peggy C. Kauffman and her husband Steve of Honey Grove, and Bill M. Noss of York; eight grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter in law, Tracie (Zombro) Noss.
She was a 1947 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown and she was an Elder and member of the McCoysville Presbyterian Church.
In earlier life, she was employed as an operator for the East Waterford Telephone Exchange. After which, she served as head cook for the Lack-Tuscarora Elementary School. Then, she was a cook at Berry’s Personal Care in Mifflintown and she retired as a cook from the Locust Grove Retirement Village in Mifflin.
Betty loved reading, watching TV, and cooking. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who, with her gift of cooking, loved nothing more than taking care of her family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown, with the Reverend Graham C. Fowler officiating. Interment will be in the McCulloch’s Mills Cemetery, Honey Grove.
A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday from the funeral home.
