Obituary for Danny D. Shellenberger



Danny D. Shellenberger, 70, of Carlisle, passed away at 11:07 p.m. on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Born on December 2, 1947 in Lewistown, Mifflin Co., he is a son of the late Palmer M. Shellenberger and Juniata J. (Schell) Shellenberger-Querry.
On August 21, 1970, he was married to his surviving wife, Mary Anne (Clark) Shellenberger, with whom he was blessed to share over 48 year of marriage.
Danny was a 1965 graduate of East Juniata High School and honorably served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Shellenberger was employed as a Supervisor at Kinney Shoes in Carlisle until its closing. After which, he was employed and retired from the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Local 431 in Lebanon.
He was a member of the AMVETS of Carlisle, the Millerstown Moose Lodge No. 925 and enjoyed hunting, carpentry, landscaping, and gardening.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Kimberly D. Piper and her husband Joseph Jr. of Carlisle; a son, Todd D. Shellenberger of Carlisle; three sisters, Phyllis M. Pellman of Mifflintown, Carol R. Waite of Mountain Top and Kay I. Lukens and her husband Harold of Thompsontown; two brothers, Robert H. Shellenberger and his wife Gloria of Thompsontown and Palmer W. Shellenberger and his wife Susan of Carlisle; one granddaughter, Rylee C. Piper; and several generations of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, C. Richard Shellenberger; and two sisters, Marian Strawser and Helen Sellers;
Memorial Services will be held on Friday, October 5th, 2018 beginning at 12:30 p.m. from the Bunkertown Church of the Brethren, 52 Bunkertown Road, McAlisterville with Pastor Wes Stahl officiating. Interment will be private.
A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial services at 12:30 p.m. on Friday at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Danny’s memory may be made to Hospice of Central PA, 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville.
