Obituary for Harold G. Long
Harold G. Long, 84, of McAlisterville, passed away at 9:56 PM on Monday, April 29, 2019 at the Bridges at Brookline, Mifflintown.
Born on September 1, 1934 in Fayette Twp., Juniata Co., he is a son of the late Glenn O. and May (Gearhart) Long.
On April 18, 1954, he married his surviving wife, Kathryn J. “Cassie” (Barth) Long with whom he was blessed to share 65 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Danny Long of McAlisterville, Loretta Moyer and her husband John of Mifflin, Joyce Rickenbaugh and her husband Joel of McAlisterville, Susan Basom and her husband Steve of Thompsontown, and David Long and his wife Cindy of McAlisterville; two brothers, Glenn J. Long of Austin, TX and Larry L. Long of McAlisterville; eleven grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jo-Anne Sellers.
Mr. Long was a 1952 graduate of Thompsontown High School and was employed and retired as a Laborer for Protection Services in Harrisburg.
He was a member of the McAlisterville United Methodist Church and enjoyed painting, fishing and was an avid reader, but the most important thing in his life was his family.
Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, May 3, 2019 at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville with Pastor Jennifer Heikes officiating. Interment will follow at Goodwill Cemetery in Bunkertown.
A viewing will be held from 11 AM until the time of the services at 12 Noon on Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Long’s memory can be made to the McAlisterville United Methodist Church, 33762 Route 35 N, McAlisterville, PA 17049.
