Shirley A. Yorks, 84, of Port Royal, passed away at 4:55 AM on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at the Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin.
Born on December 24, 1935 in Turbett Twp., Juniata County, she is a daughter of the late Neal F. and Kathryn E. (Neff) Hockenberry.
On September 7, 1955, she married her surviving husband, Robert G. Yorks with whom she was blessed to share over 64 years of marriage before her passing.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son. Ronald G. Yorks and his wife Christie of Mifflintown; two brothers, Neal F. Hockenberry Jr. of Lewistown and Wayne Hockenberry and his wife Nancy of Millerstown; and she leaves behind two granddaughters, Alyssa Davis and her husband Paige of Baltimore, MD and Rebekah Kendall and her husband Scott of Williamsport; four great-grandchildren, Madison Rall, Nolan Rall, Elijah Davis, and Malcolm Davis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Hockenberry and a sister, Jean Kepner.
Mrs. Yorks was a 1953 graduate of Tuscarora Valley High School, a homemaker, and a member of the Port Royal Lutheran Church.
Shirley enjoyed watching baseball, especially her Pittsburgh Pirates; however, spending time with her family was most precious to her and always enjoyed watching her granddaughters and great-grandchildrens sporting events.
Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with Rev. Chris Mathiason officiating. Interment will be private in the New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.
There will be no viewing; however, the family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 6-8 PM, Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at the funeral home.
The family will provide all funeral flowers and kindly ask that memorial donations in Mrs. Yorks’ memory may be made to the Port Royal Lutheran Church, 402 Market St., Port Royal, PA 17082 or to the Juniata County Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 251, Mifflintown, PA 17059.
