Obituary for Dennis E. Maurer
Dennis E. Maurer, 69, of Elysburg, passed away at 10:18 AM on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at his residence.
Born on June 16, 1953, in Thompsontown, Juniata County, he is a son of the late Melvin and Helen (Hartzell) Maurer.
On October 9, 1971, he married his surviving wife, Marilyn (Colyer) Maurer, with whom he was blessed to share more than 51 years of marriage before his passing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Jereomy M. Maurer and his wife Anna of Penns Creek; two grandsons, Michael and Anthony Maurer; and one brother, Lonny Maurer and his wife Patricia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Amy Maurer in infancy.
Mr. Maurer was a 1971 graduate of East Juniata High School in Cocolamus.
He was employed as a Butcher with Weis Markets, Riverside, had been self employed at his own butcher shop, and retired from Giant Food Stores.
In earlier life, he attended Grace Chapel in Overlook, PA.
Dennis enjoyed playing on his computer; however, his greatest joy came from time spent with his family, especially his grandsons.
All Services will be private with interment taking place at St. John's United Methodist Church Cemetery in McAlisterville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Maurer’s memory can be made to the American Heart Association, 4250 Crums Mill Road, Harrisburg, PA 17112.
