Obituary for Harold E. Amey

Harold E. Amey, 91, of McAlisterville, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023 at Brookline Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Mifflintown.

Born on July 23, 1931 in McAlisterville, Juniata County, he is a son of the late Charles and Pauline (Varner) Amey.

On March 21, 1953, he married his late wife, Harriet L. (Elsasser) Amey, with whom he was blessed to share more than 41 years of marriage before her passing on December 5, 1994.

He is survived by one sister, Janet M. Landis and her husband Richard of McAlisterville; three grandsons, Brent Dressler and his wife Alexia, Nathaniel Dressler, and Christian Dressler and his wife Valeria; and three great grandchildren, Griffin Dressler, Luca Dressler, and Cade Dressler.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Hans J. Amey on February 9, 1991; one daughter, Heidi Jo Dressler on August 6, 2004; and one granddaughter, Riley Jo Dressler.

Mr. Amey was a 1949 graduate of Fayette High School in McAlisterville and honorably served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Harold was employed as a Floor Mechanic for over 21 years with Leister Brothers in McAlisterville; then was employed with Donnie Kinzer; and last was employed and retired as a Maintenance Worker for Sausman Insurance Agency, Thompsontown.

He was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in McAlisterville and enjoyed woodworking and taking care of his property, especially his garden.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at St. Johns United Methodist Church, 675 Red Bank Road, McAlisterville with the Rev. Ronald Landis officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Johns United Methodist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Amey’s memory can be made to the St. Johns United Methodist Church Cemetery in care of Lisa Ard, 225 Cheswyck Drive, McAlisterville, PA 17049.
