Obituary for Donna Jean Barth (Paige)

Donna Jean Barth, 87, of McAlisterville, passed away at 1:15 a.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at the Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.

Born on August 29, 1935 in McAlisterville, Juniata County, she is a daughter of the late William Paige and Ida (Chrisinger) Fulkroad. On June 7, 1952, she married her late husband, James G. “Speedy” Barth with whom she was blessed to share more than 68 years of marriage before his passing on July 13, 2020.

Surviving are: two children, Kenneth Barth and his wife Vicki of Middletown and Tina French of Mifflintown; siblings, Jim Fulkroad of Mifflintown and Gerald Fulkroad and his wife Karen of East Salem; four grandchildren, Chad Barth and his wife Kelly, Justin French and his wife Jennifer, Megan Conley and her husband Brian, and Cody Palm and his wife Joy; and nine great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her step father, Jay Fulkroad; her step mother, Jane Fulkroad; and one sister in law, Joan Fulkroad.

Mrs. Barth was employed as an Administrative Assistant with Juniata Mutual Insurance Company of McAlisterville and retired with the Leonard Insurance Agency of Mifflintown.

Her memberships included the Bunkertown Brethren Church where, in earlier life, she played piano and was a member of the choir; a former member of Lost Creek Golf Course in Oakland Mills; and a member of the Fayette Area Lions Den where she enjoyed participating in Silver Sneakers.

Donna Jean enjoyed reading, singing, playing the piano, traveling, where she loved to go to new places and see new things, golfing, playing board games, baking, and hosting tea parties with her friends; however, her greatest joy came from time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren and her commitment to her church.

Memorial Services will be held at 7:00 PM, Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at the Bunkertown Brethren Church, 52 Bunkertown Road, McAlisterville with Pastor Steve Osenga officiating. Interment will be private and take place at Goodwill Cemetery, Bunkertown.

There will be no viewing; however, the family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. until the time of the Memorial Services at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Mrs. Barth’s memory to the Bunkertown Brethren Church, 52 Bunkertown Road, McAlisterville, PA 17049 or to the Juniata County Library, 498 Jefferson St., Mifflintown, PA 17059.
